UPDATE (11/20/09): From the first paragraph of an article in "The Loop" at how non-profit organization
NURU (www.nuruinternational.org) utilizes Macs to end extreme poverty:
"There are quite a few non-profit organizations that help impoverished nations, but none seem to have the grassroots approach of Nuru. This one-year old non-profit is using education to help communities, help themselves and they’re using technology to do it."
UPDATE (11/18/09): Rumors are circling on the internet about the much-awaited tablet device that they say Apple is working on. Living in the Philippines, I don't think its going to make a lot of impact here. Apple has been known to be not on the low-end of the pricing scale. They also do not go for the mass-market appeal. This rumored device will definitely be subject to much lust from the early-adopters community who won't be able to help but daydream about this machine.

If ever this tablet will be positioned as a e-book reader, then I think it is going to be a very expensive gadget. Watching video may get too tiring. Throwing in a cradle would just add to the clutter and weight in your bag. This would be a big issue. I'm curious how Apple will deal with this but they have been known to big on innovation. Apple's traditional market, the media people, may not be as thrilled as the reported screen size is only in the netbook range. It would be tough to do any kind of image processing with that kind of screen real estate.
