Blessing the Kids at CHILD House

Last December 15, 2010, I had the great privilege of covering The Edge Media’s “First Day of Christmas” gift-giving and decorating project at CHILD House, a halfway home for children with cancer, heart disease and other sickness. The Edge Media is the broadcaster of The Edge Radio that you can hear at www.edge.ph and at FM stations in Lucena and Davao.

It really breaks a parent’s heart when you see these kids. They are very brave. CHILD House is also having some difficulty in finding a relocation site as their main benefactor, PCSO, is asking the patients to leave. If you want to make a contribution for CHILD House and for their residents, you may contact Ms. Joyce Ann Titular at mobile phone number 0918-959-3343. I pray that Jesus will touch your heart today and send a gift for these precious children. You will also find below the press that we sent out regarding this event.

Below are the photos I took:

The Edge Media's Owie Burns, prays for two of the sick kids during the program. These moments was very touching and heartbreaking but we know that Jesus is the source of all hope.

Christian has love bird perched in his arm while going through the mini petting zoo set up by Liezel Bartolazo of Princess Club. She also brought an iguana, makaws, my favorite, a hedge hog. hairy hamsters and a lot more!

Operation Blessing brought donated brand new clothes for the kids--in their sizes.

Erica also gets goodies for herself.

This is me with Kim. She warmed up to me when I let her use my camera to take some photos

Here is the press release that we sent out on this event:

The Edge Radio Partners with Operation Blessing in giving gifts to sick kids

Quezon City— The Edge Media, producer of the The Edge Radio,  in partnership with Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines ( OB) recently held its annual gift-giving and decorating program called First Day of Christmas at the CHILD House in E. Rodriguez, Quezon City.  Seventy sick children together with their guardian and parents, were chosen as beneficiaries. The tie-up aims to bring smiles and hope to the sick children this Christmas season.  Most of the child beneficiaries are cancer and heart disease patients.

The children received clothes, toys and goodie bags from OB. In addition, a Christmas decorating party was sponsored by The Edge Media, who also hosted the said event.  A Christmas-card making contest was also conducted to teach the kids the true meaning of Christmas. Special guests former child-star Isabella de Leon and Birit Baby grand winner Jude Matthew came over to serenade the kids.

Other activities include film showing, games, and a mini petting zoo.  After lunch, the kids were led to sing Happy Birthy day for Jesus and afterwards blew a cake which was sponsored by child singer-actor Sam Concepcion. In addition, The Edge Media’s supporters and friends also contributed clothes, toys, food and cash, Christmas decors  and even Christmas trees to help make the event possible.

The CHILD House (Center for Health Improvement and Life Development) is a shelter for sick children and is supported by The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. Operation Blessing is the humanitarian arm of the Christian Broadcasting Network Asia ( CBN Asia) and is the producer of the daily inspirational show The 700 Club Asia. 1. Thanks for posting this Kuya Edwin! I heard on the news before that they will be transferred to a new place. I hope they found one already. Great pics!

    • Your welcome Kristine. What is more saddening which I did not mention in the post was that the home did not have electricity and running water when we came. OB and the other supporters brought generators so we can have party with the kids.
